Who eats better in your house: you or your pet? Chances are it's the one with four legs and tail who is enjoying some in between meals.
An annual survey conducted by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention has revealed that 88.4 million pets are overweight or obese. The survey found that veterinarians classify 55 percent of cats and 53 percent of dogs as overweight.
Compare those numbers to the data from the CDC on the percent of adults age 20 years and over who are obese in America: 35.9% (2009-2010). That means about 90 million Americans are classified as obese.
Looks like that full day of naps, eating, and lying on the couch waiting for your owner to come home has caught up with our pets.
