Add Jockeys, Trainers and at least one TV analyst as those who have not taken the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds and awareness for the ALS Association.

On Saturday, August 16, trainers Michael Hushion, Jeremiah Englehart and Bruce Brown accepted the challenge from members of the Saratoga jockey colony and doused themselves with ice cold water at Saratoga Race Course. The trainers improvised and instead of dumping a bucket themselves, or having someone else do it, they stood underneath a spigot of flowing water traditionally used to fill water trucks on the Oklahoma side of the track.

On Friday, August 15, jockeys took part in the viral phenomenon. Participating jockeys included John Velazquez; Mike Luzzi; Jose Ortiz; Manuel Franco; Irad Ortiz, Jr.; and former jockey turned NYRA TV analyst Richard Migliore. In addition to completing the challenge, Migliore and each of the participating jockeys have pledged to donate $100 to the ALS Association.

The trainer and jockey pledges supplement an initial contribution from NYRA of $1,000 to the ALS Association in conjunction with the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Developed to spread awareness and raise funds for ALS, the social media trend known as the Ice Bucket Challenge involves people dousing themselves with buckets of ice water and posting video of the occurrence on social media. The individual then challenges others to do the same and/or donate to the ALS Association.

Challenges were issued to a numerous members of the Saratoga racing community, including trainers Rudy Rodriguez, Graham Motion, Bruce Brown, Jeremiah Englehart, Rick Violette, Linda Rice, Bruce Levine, Todd Pletcher, Chad Brown and Michael Hushion; owner Roddy Valente; New York Racing Association peace officer Pito Rosa; and NYRA TV analyst Andy Serling.
